DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – An Alabama juvenile facility said it will no longer partner with La. and will only house Alabama minors after a guard was injured and a riot broke out. been tempted.
The Southeast Alabama Youth Services Diversion Center will no longer partner with Louisiana after an incident earlier this month where a total of 14 teenagers were expelled from the facility and returned to Louisiana to serve out the remainder of their sentences.
Dothan police say three Louisiana teenagers tried to start a riot and injured a security guard.
All minors housed at Southeast Alabama Youth Services Diversion Center in Dothan come from the state of Alabama.
The diversion center now says it houses 42 minors from counties including Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston and Pike counties.
