The McGennis Youth Center BBQ and Auction is scheduled for Sunday, September 25

This year’s annual McGennis Youth Center BBQ and Auction is scheduled for Sunday, September 25.

The McGennis BBQ is a tradition that spans over 50 years. The first barbecue took place in 1969.

In conjunction with the BBQ this year will be the Sixth Annual Auto and Truck Show. Registration for the auto show is from noon to 1 p.m. For more information on the auto show, contact Jared Rankin at 417-448-4903 or [email protected]

The children’s games will start at 12:30 p.m. Horse and carriage rides will also start at 12:30 p.m. with Harry Byram on hand with his hitch and carriage.

The barbecue service is at 1 p.m. The auction will begin around 1:45 a.m. Larry Hacker will be our auctioneer this year.

A popular part of the auction will be featured again this year. The Mad Hatter features ten McGennis Youth Center caps courtesy of Bell Photography. These caps, each numbered, will be sold at auction. At the end of the auction, one of these numbers will be drawn. This winning number will win this year’s featured weapon, courtesy of Bell Farms. Details on this year’s weapon will be coming to you in the coming days.

In the same spirit, Schyer Designs donated not one but two beautiful rings. Two winners will be drawn from the top ten bidders for ten numbered envelopes, each containing a gift certificate from Schyer Designs. The first winner will have the choice between the two rings. One ring is an emerald and diamond ring and the other is a diamond ring.

For more information about the auction or to donate an item, call Marc or Alison Bell at 660-832-4196. The generosity of donators and bidders has made the auction a major source of revenue for the Youth Centre.

Admission to the barbecue is $10.00 for adults and $4.00 for children (6-12 years old). Tickets are for the meal and not required for the auction.

From Rich Hill, the McGennis Youth Center is located five miles west on Highway A and four miles south on Highway WW.
