UNHCR opens new office in White River for Child and Youth Services

SPRINGFIELD, VT, February 22, 2022 — Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS), Southeast Vermont’s nonprofit community mental health agency, today announced that its outpatient services for children, Hartford area youth and families have moved to a new location at 132 South Main Street in downtown White River Junction [as shown in photo].

As well as providing additional space to meet with customers, the new location provides space for a playroom to support staff’s ability to work more effectively with young children as well as children for whom speaking is a challenge. . Jennifer Smith, HCRS Director of Children, Youth and Families, says: “Thanks to the generosity of several of our donors, we have been able to properly equip a playroom where these children can express their needs through play, which allows us to understand their needs and develop meaningful therapeutic interventions.

The location of the new HCRS offices will also provide better access to services by public transport, more parking for clients and staff, and better access to outdoor spaces. This move also brings all of their child, youth and family outpatient services to downtown White River Junction, as the agency’s Intensive Outpatient Program is also located on South Main Street.

Smith adds, “The new space is all about children and young people. With our professional and expert service providers on-site, welcoming atmosphere and fully furnished playroom, we are uniquely designed to provide effective treatment for children and young people in a child-friendly setting with trauma-informed staff and listening to the situation. needs of children and young people.

The HCRS office in Hartford, located at 49 School Street, will continue to house the agency’s adult outpatient services.
